Do You Know the Sound of a Safe Oil Delivery?

Sound of a safe delivery

Our drivers are trained to put safety first—and heating oil storage systems are designed to protect against problems such as overfilling and spills.

One of the key safety features is the vent alarm—located between the tank and the vent pipe. When making deliveries to basement oil tanks, our driver connects the hose from the oil truck to the fill pipe. As oil flows into the tank, air is pushed out and passes through the vent alarm, making a whistling sound. When the whistling stops, the driver knows the tank is just about full. That is the sound of a safe delivery.

If the vent alarm isn’t working, we cannot fill your tank. Homeowners are responsible for maintaining fuel tanks and all related piping—which should be steel not PVC. If you have questions about your oil tank, please contact us.
